Columbia Skyline

 A favorite from 2023.

It was an amazing year. In the spring I was commissioned by USC to travel the state, capturing iconic scenes in almost every county.

Wishing you A Happy New Year!

Explosion - Clemson's Defensive Line vs Notre Dame

One of the reasons Clemson won Saturday was how fast the defense performed at the snap.

Clemson's Tyler Davis (13) has already exploded off the line and the rest of the Tigers' hands are off the ground while Notre Dame's hands are still flat.

Good Morning From The Pee Dee

The summer is usually a slow time for me as a photographer. Especially since I stepped away from the wedding business a few years ago.

USC contacted me in May about traveling to every region of the state this summer to create new photographs, capturing the landscapes and iconic places that are part of the Palmetto state.

The amazing part is that they trusted me to make the shot list! They said "Travis you grew up in SC. Go do your thing. See you in August!"

So I hit the road in June and in 2 months, traveled over 2,500 miles inside South Carolina to The Upstate, Pee Dee, Lowcountry and any towns that had interesting places to photograph.

This is one of my favorite images for many reasons. I'm not an early riser but glad I got up early for this one, which was made in Clio, SC. Clio is between Bennettsville and Dillon.

Just over the right tree line is where I married my wife, Beth, 10 years ago beside a pond and it's where her family has farmed for decades.

Every tree line in this image represents another crop or farm in a region that is prime for producing corn, peanuts and more. 5 million acres of the Palmetto State is used for farming.

I've Been Everywhere, Man

Excited to be working on a statewide project that's taking me to every corner of my home state.

ASMP Annual Conference in Columbia

On Thursday, I'll be speaking about Sports Photography during the annual ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) conference at the USC School of Journalism in Columbia.

Most college and pro sporting events, and even some high school events, place shooters into the same areas, which makes it difficult to get something different than the photographers beside you. My talk will focus on how to see things differently and use on-site camera tools/accessories that make your work stand out among the other photographers.

I'll be sharing 25+ years of sports photography experience. I'll also be sharing ideas about where inspiration comes from to be creative, how to price your sports coverage, workflow at games and copyright.

Here's the link for registration and the lineup of photographers that are speaking!
