Wedding Tips-Find Some Sunlight-Brookgreen Gardens

Brides, if you're planning a rehearsal and/or wedding and you want great images, plan your wedding around having some sunlight during some or most of your event.

Look for places where the sun will set on the venue. Have your reception at a time when you'll have some sunlight in the beginning. If you have the option, look for churches that have lots of windows that let in light.

There's an old saying that "God's light is better than man's light."

It's true. Your images will be brighter, have more color saturation and look more natural.

I just came away from a wedding this past weekend with some of the best images ever and one of the reasons is because at the rehearsal, ceremony and reception, there was a lot of sunlight.

Just some food for thought if you're planning. Below is an example from a the wedding, which was at Brookgreen Gardens.

That's Eleven

Monday's assignment took me to Orlando to photograph the Gamecocks' appearance in The Capital One Bowl. I serve as one of the contract photographers for USC.

Below is a favorite from the players surprising Coach Spurrier with a Gatorade bath. The Gamecocks won their eleventh game, a mark not made by any other USC football team.

Needless to say, I'm going to be cleaning my cameras for a few hours today, getting the Gatorade off. Thanks for taking a look at the blog!

Vista Lights Bridal Show

Fun time photographing these girls Thursday night as part of Vista Lights in downtown Columbia. The show featured a Renaissance theme and was brilliant as always.

Candice

Many thanks to Jennifer for asking me to photograph her daughter, Candice, Saturday at the USC-Florida game. Candice, a senior, is a Coquette and performs on the field before the game and at halftime. Jennifer wanted to preserve family history and capture her daughter's experience on gameday at Williams-Brice.

This image is one of the many reasons I love photographing daytime football. You can't get light like this at night!

Such an honor to be asked by Addy's mother to create softball portraits in Chapin Tuesday evening. Couldn't have asked for better conditions to make pictures. Thanks for taking a look at the blog. (Photos by Travis Bell, Copyright)

ESPN ACC Basketbal

Today's assignment took me to Charlotte to photograph ESPN's ACC Basketball Media Day. Here, Jay Bilas hosts a roundtable with six of the twelve coaches, including UNC's Williams, Duke's Coach K and Clemson's Brownell. (Photo by Travis Bell/ESPN, Copyright 2011)
